Compensation

  • Base Salary: $75,000–$95,000
  • Commission (On-Target): $45,000–$85,000
  • Total OTE: $120,000–$180,000 (uncapped)


About the Role

A growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) is seeking an experienced MSP sales professional to own the full sales cycle—from prospecting through close. This role is responsible for building and managing a predictable pipeline of qualified opportunities and closing new managed services agreements.


Key Responsibilities

Prospect and generate pipeline through outbound calling, email, social outreach, local networking, referral partners, and industry events

  • Qualify opportunities based on ideal client profile, urgency, budget, and decision-making process
  • Lead discovery calls and conduct consultative selling focused on managed services value (security, reliability, compliance, cloud/M365, backups/DR, user support, etc.)
  • Develop, present, and negotiate proposals including MSAs, SOWs, and pricing options
  • Close new client relationships and support early expansion opportunities as needed
  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking, forecasting, and activity reporting in CRM
  • Coordinate handoff to service delivery teams (vCIO, engineering, onboarding) to ensure smooth implementation and strong early retention

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of sales experience within a small-to-mid-sized MSP (required)
  • Proven success selling recurring revenue (MRR) managed services agreements
  • Comfortable with outbound prospecting and self-generated pipeline development
  • Strong discovery skills focused on business pain points, risk, compliance, and stakeholder mapping
  • Experience selling to SMB and lower mid-market organizations (typically 25–250 users)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present to business owners and executive leadership
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to attend local meetings across Northern VA, DC, and MD


Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience selling security-focused offerings (EDR/MDR, email security, vulnerability management, compliance)
  • Established local network in Northern Virginia (business groups, chambers, referral partners)
  • Comfort collaborating with technical teams on solution design

  • Consistent activity levels and qualified meetings per week
  • Monthly pipeline creation targets
  • Closed-won new monthly recurring revenue and onboarding quality
  • Forecast accuracy and CRM hygiene
