We are seeking a Materials Designer II to support a global design team focused on color and materials for kids and core consumer products. This role will contribute to material design strategies, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective product solutions.
$45 hour

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop material concepts for kids (preschool and grade school) and core product lines
- Collaborate with design, development, and business teams to bring concepts to life
- Balance aesthetic vision with cost efficiency, ensuring materials meet margin targets
- Contribute to storytelling and product narratives aligned with the target consumer
- Support material selection, development, and execution across product lifecycles
- Partner with internal stakeholders throughout the design and development process
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in footwear materials design
- Experience designing for kids categories (preschool, grade school) and/or core consumer products
- Strong understanding of material cost structures and value engineering
- Ability to translate consumer insights into material and design decisions
- Strong storytelling skills within the design process
- Portfolio showcasing relevant work (required for consideration)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with seasonal product creation timelines and milestone gates
- Experience managing or setting up product/material specifications
- Knowledge of leather materials (genuine vs. synthetic) and their applications
- Understanding of import duties and material-related costs
