Position Overview Marquee Sports Network is looking for an experienced Director, Engineering / IT to lead our broadcast engineering team. Reporting to the VP, Technical Operations, the Director will manage a team of three broadcast engineers, supporting live studio productions including our Emmy-award winning Chicago Cubs pre- and post-game shows. The broadcast engineering team is actively involved with Chicago Cubs game productions, and provides desktop and enterprise IT infrastructure support for Marquee Sports Network’s business operations.

This is a hands‑on role that requires both strong leadership and technical skills. A successful candidate will possess deep knowledge of video and audio production systems, live broadcast operations, and IT infrastructure, and will anticipate near and long‑term technical needs. We are also looking for a team player who can effectively lead, coach, and motivate staff, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement through mentorship.

This position is fully on‑site in our Chicago office. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, which will include evenings and weekends.

Primary Responsibilities

Organize engineering efforts and direct resources to maintain reliable performance of production control room, studio, post‑production systems, transmission, and backup power / electrical systems

Work closely with production, operations, and app teams to support live productions and special events

Oversee desktop support and IT infrastructure including VM servers, storage systems, network switches, firewalls, and network circuits

Manage capital projects from planning to implementation, including managing timelines, budgeting, purchasing, vendor management, installation, testing, and documentation

Required Experience

8+ years broadcast engineering experience in live sports, news, and/or post‑production

2+ years managing engineering or technical teams

Proven record supporting high-quality live TV productions in a large market or network-level

Expert knowledge of broadcast technology and video/audio workflows, including routers, switchers, multiviewers, encoders/decoders, replay, graphics, MAM & editing systems, audio mixers, and intercoms

Proficient in supporting IT infrastructure including PCs, servers, networks, circuits, Active Directory, and DNS

Ability to communicate with, and liaise between, technical and non‑technical teams

Preferred Experiences

Proficient in SMPTE 2110 video routing/orchestration and Dante/AES 67 IP audio

Familiarity with remote and cloud production systems and REMI workflows

Experience with direct‑to‑consumer video streaming apps and related technologies

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer, or broadcast‑related field, and/or certifications in related fields

Understanding of electronics and basic AC/DC principles
