We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to lead agronomic operations at this 27‑hole championship facility, ideally positioned along the Carolina coast just minutes from Myrtle Beach. About The Club
Brunswick Plantation offers a unique and engaging golf experience with three distinct 9‑hole layouts—Azalea, Dogwood, and Magnolia—each delivering a different strategic test for players of all skill levels. Recent investments, including upgraded Bermuda greens and course enhancements, have elevated overall playing conditions and guest experience. Position Overview
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the golf course, practice facilities, and grounds. This individual will lead all agronomic practices, staff development, budgeting, and long‑term planning efforts to ensure exceptional course conditions and alignment with Heritage Golf Group standards. Key Responsibilities
Maintain all grounds and course maintenance equipment according to the club’s/turf management program. Schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate all personnel assigned to the department. Maintain accurate work records for all personnel in the department. Supervise planting, fertilizing, care, and removal of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course. Maintain course in proper playing condition. Inspect course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements. Plan any and all future improvements to the golf course, and oversee all construction, maintenance and renovations. Oversee repairs of broken water lines or valves and perform necessary repairs in an emergency. Record all maintenance on course. Supervise operation of the Equipment Repair Shop. Prepare annual budget for department; take corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met. Prepare and revise grounds manual. Establish short‑ and long‑range plans for the golf course. Select and prepare proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna. Develop and maintain drainage, irrigation, and watering systems. Implement and enforce comprehensive safety program for employees, members, and guests on course in compliance with local, state, and federal laws; implement and manage the club’s hazard communication (HAZCOM) program. Ensure that chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations; maintain required records and strive to minimize use of chemicals and petroleum products. Communicate as necessary with Director of Golf and Golf Professional to discuss conditions of facilities, maintenance plans, scheduled events and the number of rounds played. Communicate as necessary with Grounds, Golf or House committees or other applicable committees. Attend staff and management meetings. Keep members informed about current and future maintenance activities. Conduct daily facility security checks ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys. Assist with snow removal planning. Plan professional development and training activities for subordinates including safety training for equipment use and proper handling of fertilizers, herbicides, and all other chemicals used on course; assure that SDSs are available in convenient location. Make recommendations for capital improvement and purchases. Supervise road and roadside maintenance within the club’s grounds. Ensure proper landscaping for property outside of golf course including the clubhouse and surrounding areas. Coordinate applicable work with outside contractors. Determine when course should be closed due to weather conditions that may damage the course if play continues. Conduct other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager. Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture or Plant Science. Associate’s degree from an intensive two‑year turf grass management program. Experience Requirements
Previous work as an assistant to an experienced Golf Course Superintendent. Previous supervisory experience in a club or golf course setting. Have a basic understanding of the rules of golf. Be up to date on federal, state and local laws on golf course operations. Administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem‑solving and decision‑making.
