
Director of Library Services
Texas Library Association, Killeen, TX, United States
Provides strategic vision and operational leadership for all public library services, overseeing planning, budgeting, collection development, and reference services, implementation of programs, outreach, and patron-facing services across on-site, online, and community settings. Directs complex professional and administrative functions, aligns fiscal priorities with the City’s mission, fosters collaborative staff development, and supports fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.
The employee will have the responsibility of:
Exercising direct supervision of the Assistant Director and Principal Secretary and providing oversight over all division personnel and operations.
Preparing annual library operating and capital budgets including the division’s expenditure forecasts.
Collaborating with the library staff, stakeholders, and the community to ensure that library services and collections meet user needs.
Identifying and recommending library policy updates for Executive of Community Development and/or City Manager review and approval.
Drafting and submitting various reports to the Executive Director of Community Development, City Manager and City Council, as well as regional, national, and programmatic accreditations as required.
Coordinating library planning activities, including preparation and implementation of strategic plans and annual goals.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in library or information science accredited by the American Library Association; and
Five (5) years of experience in library operations; and
Two (2) years supervisory experience.
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire
Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
Must be bondable.
Must be available for weekend and evening work when required
