Must be 16 or older by April 1, 2026. Individuals of all ages above 16 are welcome to apply.

We support conservation planning and implementation efforts on a broad scale by facilitating information sharing, partnership building, and carrying out identified conservation priorities. ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
This internship focuses on the retail operations of our mission-driven store, as well as supporting in person education, public outreach, and engagement. This is an in-person internship with the expectation that the person filling this role will be on-site 2-3 days per week at the Monarch Joint Venture’s Prairie Oaks Campus in Belle Plaine, MN. Reliable transportation to and from Prairie Oaks is required.
Packing and shipping MJV store orders onsite at least 2 days a week, with flexibility to set a regular schedule that works for you.
Supporting educational programs at Prairie Oaks, including Summer Day Camp (June 15 -19), Moth Ball (July 17), and Butterfly Days (August 22).
You do not have to be available for all dates in order to apply.
Supporting additional outreach around Belle Plaine as available (may include evenings/weekends). For example: local tabling opportunities, education workshops, selling store merchandise at farmers markets, etc.
Additional opportunities based on availability and interest include:
Helping to develop promotional materials for products and programs.
Writing content for blogs, newsletters, and other communication platforms.
Identifying and compiling contacts for marketing and outreach initiatives.
Assisting with monthly store inventory.
Optional opportunities to support outreach events in the Twin Cities Metro.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Skills (not required):
Retail or customer service experience
Experience in environmental education (in a classroom or informal setting)
Familiarity with grassland ecosystems or pollinator species
Familiarity with Canva and/or social media content creation
A driver’s license is helpful but not mandatory
Physical Requirements:
Capable of traveling to, and working from, the Prairie Oaks Campus, including in an office setting, and outside on uneven terrain.
Capable of packing store orders, which may include bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying items.
