At The Immersive 9 at Arredondo, we are designing a new model of school where students engage in immersive, mastery‑based learning experiences that connect academic content to real‑world application. The Discovery Lab is a central part of this model—an interdisciplinary space where students explore their interests through: Robotics and engineering Media production and storytelling AI and emerging technologies Design, collaboration, and problem‑solving Learning begins with what students love and expands into rigorous, meaningful experiences that connect to authentic audiences and real‑world challenges. This role is critical to bringing that vision to life. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (STEM, Engineering, Technology preferred) Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate Demonstrated success in project‑based, student‑centered, or immersive learning environments Experience with robotics, engineering, coding, or design‑based learning Gifted Endorsement required or willingness to obtain (in accordance with Arizona requirements for serving gifted students) Preferred Attributes Experience designing interdisciplinary units that integrate STEM, media, and real‑world problem solving Familiarity with robotics platforms, coding environments, or engineering design processes Experience with tools such as 3D design, media production, or AI‑supported creation Ability to connect student interests (gaming, building, storytelling, etc.) to rigorous learning Commitment to continuous growth, creativity, and collaborative innovation ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions, as defined under the ADA, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. About the Role The Instructional Experience Designer (Robotics & Discovery Lab) is a classroom‑based educator who serves as a learning architect of innovation, engineering, and creation. This role designs and facilitates immersive, interdisciplinary experiences where students build, design, test, and refine ideas through robotics, engineering, and creative technologies. Grounded in the district’s redesign principles, this educator ensures that students engage in meaningful, hands‑on learning that develops critical thinking, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills, while maintaining strong academic foundations. Responsibilities & Deliverables Learning Experience Design (Engineering & Innovation) Design interdisciplinary, standards‑aligned experiences rooted in robotics, engineering, and student interests Guide students through the engineering design process: Ideate → Build → Test → Iterate Integrate academic content into hands‑on learning: Math through measurement, data, and problem‑solving Literacy through documentation, reflection, and communication Science through experimentation and systems thinking Leverage Discovery Lab tools and technologies to support creation and exploration Student‑Centered Facilitation (Creation & Agency) Facilitate learning environments that prioritize student voice, choice, and ownership Shift from delivering content to co‑creating experiences with students Support students in developing: Problem‑solving skills Collaboration and teamwork Persistence through iteration and failure Use formative assessment and observation to guide student growth Discovery Lab Integration (Interdisciplinary Learning) Utilize the Discovery Lab as a hub for: Robotics and engineering projects Media production and storytelling AI and digital creation Connect learning across studios, including: Maker & Motion Lab Story & Stream Studio Play & Performance environments Design experiences that culminate in public exhibitions or authentic products Collaboration & Co‑Design (Distributed Expertise) Collaborate with other Instructional Experience Designers to create interdisciplinary projects Participate in design sprints and continuous improvement cycles Share practices and contribute to the evolution of the Immersive 9 model Real‑World Connection (Purpose & Application) Connect student work to real‑world challenges, audiences, and applications Facilitate opportunities for students to: Showcase their work Engage with community partners Solve authentic problems Integrate tools such as AI, digital media, and engineering systems to deepen learning School: The Immersive 9 at Arredondo Salary: Certified Work Year: Certified Schedule Reports To: School Principal Evaluation: Certified Position Type: Full‑Time Salary: $51,500 Per Year Job Requirements Citizenship, residency or work visa required Contact Information Human Resources 3205 S Rural Road Tempe, Arizona 85282 Phone: 480-730-7158 Email: human.resources@tempeschools.org #J-18808-Ljbffr
