Property Specialist (Part-Time)
Hanover County Government $26.00 - $30.00 Hourly Hanover, VA This is a clerical position which performs inventory and quality control of Pamunkey Regional Jail property area. This is a clerical position which reports to the Operations Lieutenant and supervises no staff. Essential Functions: Securely store inmate property, maintain and control jail issued property and jail issued kits in accordance with facility policy and state law. Inventory and track quantities of jail-issued items and determine appropriate stock level based on facility capacity and headcount trends. Inspect returned property for damage or wear, and report findings to supervisor. Perform routine repairs and cleaning, discard unserviceable items and create requisitions for replacement inventory to maintain stock minimums. Respond to staff, civilian and inmate requests regarding property, investigate issues, and report any violations. Prepare hygiene, weekender, and disciplinary kits as necessary, and order supplies as needed to maintain stock minimums. Ensure all required reports are complete, signed and forwarded to appropriate personnel. Conduct exchanges of inmate clothing for court. Maintain overall tidiness and cleanliness of the property room and associated areas. Adhere to property key control, identify and record security breaches or unsound security practices. Other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Hazards: None Known Physical Effort: Minimal. Must be able to crawl, kneel, lift, run and climb stairs. Must be able to lift up to 30#. Exempt or Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Essential or Non-Essential: Non-Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires a general level of clerical skills. Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment, computer literacy. Communication skills, oral, written and verbal are required. Basic knowledge of records maintenance and the ability to provide accurate responses for requests for information. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public is required. This is a part-time position with hours as established, generally 8:00am-5:00pm on Monday and Wednesday, and 12:00pm to 8:00pm on Fridays. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; High school graduate or equivalent required. Experience working with confidential files is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities maybe acceptable.
