We are filling multiple vacancies across three divisions: Senior Services, Recreation Services, and Community Programs. Under general supervision, assist in the planning, promoting, and implementing of a variety of City-wide special events and recreation and community services programs. Supervision is provided by the Program Coordinator or Supervisor. Essential Job Functions

Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist in organizing and leading activities for children, adults and seniors in the City's recreation programs; when assigned to facilities monitoring, provide facilities oversight and set-up and break down of equipment during scheduled activities; assist in distribution of promotional materials; assist in other duties as assigned. Qualification Guidelines

To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities, and enable the individual to successfully perform the essential job functions of the position. A typical combination is: Education and/or Experience: No experience necessary; education at a level that provides the ability to read written instructions. Knowledge of: Leadership principles in a variety of sports, games, and crafts, and activities for all ages; Microsoft programs that include Word, Publisher and Excel are desirable. Ability to: Effectively interact with the public and City staff and engage in a variety of youth, adult and senior activities and programs; maintain enthusiasm and a willingness to learn; perform duties involving walking, bending, kneeling, lifting and climbing and work outdoors. Licenses and Certificates

Must be minimum of 16 years of age at time of application. This position requires the ability to work a variety of hours, depending on assignment, including nights, weekends, and holidays; involves participation in activities that require the ability to perform strenuous labor/activity including, but not limited to, facility management, special events, rentals, senior program implementation, leisure class and senior programs support. Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds or more with assistance; sit, stand, squat, kneel, climb stairs, stoop, and walk for prolonged periods of time; and get from one location to another in the course of doing business. Employee generally works outdoors. Employee may travel to different locations and be exposed to inclement weather conditions, noise, vibration, dust, or potentially hazardous chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and the employee may occasionally be exposed to loud talking and interruptions from telephones and/or members of the public. The nature of the work also requires incumbents to drive motorized vehicles and work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions.
