The Product Owner is the owner of Automated Scheduling within Timpani and is responsible for directing all activities and areas of development to meet business unit objectives, domain strategy, and use case OKRs. This role owns the strategy, design, and performance of the automated schedule generation engine, ensuring it produces balanced, compliant, and high quality schedules that align staffing supply with patient care demand.
The Product Owner bridges stakeholders, including frontline clinicians, nursing leadership, workforce management, internal teams, and executives, and the pod team, translating staffing models, proficiency mix requirements, preference based inputs, and business rules into detailed user stories while prioritizing the product backlog. This role is accountable for driving value through intelligent automation, reducing manual schedule build time, minimizing leader intervention, improving schedule equity, and continuously refining workflows to increase trust and adoption of automated scheduling across facilities.

What you will do in this role:
Product Vision and Strategy
Develop and communicate a clear product vision for Automated Scheduling within Timpani that aligns with enterprise workforce strategy and clinical operations priorities. Champion intelligent, equitable, and data driven schedule generation that leaders trust and clinicians value Define and execute the automated scheduling roadmap, delivering features that improve schedule quality, optimize proficiency mix, honor preference based inputs, and reduce manual build time and leader intervention. Manage cross functional dependencies and partner with clinical, business, and ITG teams to ensure alignment of scheduling workflows, data inputs, and enterprise roadmaps Oversee the development and implementation of the product, ensuring it adheres to the defined vision and goals, including the development of reusable, modular components (i.e., limited one-off or "tech-debt" code) Partner with the Domain Leader to establish and track OKRs focused on automation performance, adoption, and measurable workforce impact, adjusting strategy based on outcomes Backlog Management
Define and actively manage the scope of work for Automated Scheduling by building and prioritizing a product backlog aligned to business goals, sprint commitments, and quarterly OKRs Ensure user stories and requirements are clearly defined, feasible, and aligned with the broader Timpani vision and desired workflow outcomes Work with the Tech Lead and other engineers to estimate the level of effort for each user story Continuously refine and adjust the backlog to meet changing priorities and new insights Stakeholder Collaboration
Engage with Nursing, Finance and HR stakeholders to gather requirements, feedback, and insights, ensuring alignment with the overall product strategy Escalate and unblock any pod members' dependencies/needs. Facilitate communication between pod members and other teams or shared services Serve as the primary point of contact for all product-related queries and decisions Act as the "voice of the customer" within the pod to ensure the right thing is built Agile Process Participation
Participate in Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Demos, and Stand-Ups to ensure smooth execution of product development Determine which user stories are completed in each sprint to achieve OKRs Lead Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo, and Sprint Retrospective alongside the Scrum Master Ensure product increments are delivered on time and meet the defined acceptance criteria Track product performance and use data to inform decisions and future iterations What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related fields - Required Master's degree in healthcare related, Business Administration or related field - Preferred 7+ years of experience in demonstrated experience and expertise in the workforce management or nurse scheduling domain area, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product goals while fostering effective collaboration within cross-functional teams - Required 3+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management or a related business role - Preferred Prior experience in delivering digital products, with significant domain (i.e., use case area) knowledge/expertise and experience working with and advocating for cross-functional teams with good relationships to stakeholders - Preferred Demonstrated experience leading teams with multiple skillsets to fulfill a complex and aspirational business objective - Required Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
Certified Scrum Product Owner or similar Agile certification - Preferred Work Location/Schedule:
Nashville, TN area (near Centennial Park) Onsite: M-F, 8am - 5pm Travel Required:
