Program Director For Promise Academy I Teen After School Program
Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Program Director for our Promise Academy I Teen After School Program. The Program Director will bring a passion for Harlem Children's Zone's mission: breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that creates opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. The Program Director will join our Promise Academy I Teen After-School program, closely supporting and working in tandem with the Assistant Director to lead the site. These programs provide hundreds of students in grades 6-12 with a safe, nurturing, and educational environment that fosters self-confidence, personal and social development. Students are exposed to a variety of fun-filled, project-based learning, developmental, and high-caliber enrichment activities, including arts enrichment (e.g., dance, culinary arts, and media arts and production), as well as health & wellness and physical fitness. Additionally, scholars participate in leadership development, college & career readiness, and life skills activities, including community service, character education, conflict resolution, and much more. They can also engage in a variety of team sports and recreational activities, such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, flag football, table tennis, track & field, lacrosse, and karate. We strive to build strong bonds and partnerships among students, families, and staff to meet the needs of each individual child and the community as a whole. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep experience in program and administrative systems development, staff coaching, and professional learning design, who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families in historically underserved communities.
