Role Description The Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute seeks a faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to lead the Myeloid Malignancies Program. The selected individual will be expected to be highly collaborative, boosting the program with a variety of research projects with high potential for clinical impact. The ideal candidate will:

Have experience mentoring early-stage clinical investigators, including Heme/Onc fellows, to develop a robust translational myeloid malignancies program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Have a strong track record of leading clinical trials, including investigator-initiated and multicenter cooperative group trials.

Be based primarily at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah Hospital.

Possess the potential to become Associate Chief of Clinical Research for the division.

Minimum Qualifications

Hold an M.D. or D.O. degree (or equivalent) with board certification in Hematology or Oncology; a Ph.D. is optional.

Possessing or being eligible for a Utah Medical License.

Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and capabilities within an academic environment.

Have a superb clinical skill set with an extensive clinical research program addressing myeloid malignancies, focusing on early Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials.

Mission The Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies is committed to providing state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment in a compassionate care environment for patients with hematologic cancer and non-malignant hematologic conditions. The Division currently has 25 full-time Clinical Faculty members engaged in several subspecialties and a broad spectrum of clinical, translational, and basic research. We are in a growth trajectory and look to expand our programs through high quality, innovation, and dedication to the needs of our catchment population in the Mountain West.

Research Environment The University of Utah and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the only NCI-designated Cancer Center in the Intermountain West, provide an excellent research environment. State-of-the-art resources are available on-site, spanning from world-class transgenic facilities, genome-wide scanning technologies, to drug development platforms, pharmacology, and toxicology. The scientific environment in the Division and the wider University is vibrant and extremely collaborative. All clinical facilities are in close physical proximity to laboratories in the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
