Basic Function:
To provide each student with an opportunity to participate in co‑curricular and extra‑curricular activities to help foster a sense of connectedness with the school and support high levels of student achievement. Act as part of the high school leadership team.
Performance Responsibilities:
Organizes, schedules, and administers the overall extra‑curricular and co‑curricular activities program.
Develops, implements, and evaluates the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the activities program, in alignment with district priorities, including the use of stakeholder feedback.
Leads the selection, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of activity sponsors, coaches, and assistants.
Promotes positive school‑community relations through clear, consistent communication with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders, highlighting activities, events, and program updates and successes.
Secures and coordinates officials, team trainers, team physicians, and police officers as needed.
Oversees supervision and operations of all home events.
Partners with building and district leadership to promote a positive culture and climate for student learning and activities.
Assists with building supervision and student discipline during the academic day, as needed.
Coordinates transportation for all off‑campus events and activities.
Addresses and resolves student, parent, and staff concerns related to activities, including disciplinary matters.
Ensures student eligibility requirements are verified and maintained.
Develops, administers, and monitors the activities budget, including approval of purchases and equipment.
Oversees ticketing and fundraising efforts of the activities program, ensuring proper financial procedures and accountability.
Coordinates logistics for visiting teams and event participants.
Oversees scheduling and the use of district grounds and facilities, including non‑school use and equitable access for all stakeholders, in collaboration with the Superintendent, the Director of Operations, the Board Secretary, Building Administrative Assistants, and HS Deans.
Supports event streaming and digital coverage of activities.
Represents the school at conference activities director's meetings.
Collaborates effectively with booster clubs and community partners.
Maintains the 9‑12 master calendar in coordination with the building Principal.
Coordinates event staffing, including game and event managers.
Leads annual program evaluation efforts, including stakeholder feedback and surveys.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Specifications/Qualifications:
1. Valid Iowa administrator license or Activities Administrator Authorization
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Working Conditions:
Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
