Position Overview The Assistant Director of Finance plays a pivotal role in the financial operations of the hotel. Reporting into the Director of Finance, this individual will oversee various aspects of financial management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the job description, the Assistant Director of Finance will also have a strong focus on:
Financial Analysis & Reporting Prepare financial reports and analysis for senior management, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement Conduct regular reviews of financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights to support decision-making
Budgeting & Forecasting Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with operational goals Monitor budgetary performance throughout the year, recommending adjustments as needed to maintain financial targets
Internal Controls & Compliance Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Conduct periodic audits of financial processes and transactions, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly
Strategic Planning Contribute to strategic planning initiatives by providing financial expertise and insights to support long-term growth objectives Evaluate investment opportunities and capital projects, conducting financial analysis and ROI assessments
Vendor Management Manage vendor relationships and contracts, negotiating favorable terms and conditions to optimize cost savings and service quality Review vendor invoices and payments, verifying accuracy and adherence to contractual agreements
Training & Development Provide guidance and training to finance staff, fostering professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices and standards Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to financial management in the hospitality sector
Job Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel for financial analysis and reporting Experience with computerized accounting systems and financial management software Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex financial data accurately Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders at all levels Proven ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency Adaptability to flexible work schedules, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate business needs Fluency in the primary language(s) used in the workplace, with proficiency in reading and writing to facilitate communication Minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the hotel industry, with demonstrated leadership and managerial capabilities
