Architectural Designer
Job Description The Project Designer is a detail-oriented, reliable professional with strong technical skills and a production mindset. This role is primarily responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining design and documentation deliverables across all project phases, supporting project teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely execution. The Project Designer focuses on translating design intent into clear, buildable documentation while assisting with coordination, standards compliance, and day-to-day production needs.
Responsibilities
Produce and maintain technical drawings and documentation across all project phases.
Support design development through drafting, modeling, and coordination of project materials.
Assist with internal and external coordination by tracking comments, updates, and deliverables.
Prepare presentation and production materials for internal reviews and client use.
Incorporate regulatory requirements, including zoning, code compliance, and permitting comments, into drawing sets.
Conduct material and product research and assist with specifications and schedules.
Implement redlines, revisions, and quality control checks to ensure accuracy.
Execute workplan by managing assigned tasks and meeting production deadlines. Assist with proposal graphics, authorization documents, and project setup materials as needed.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Revit and BlueBeam.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience with design development and construction documents.
Commercial experience, preferably in multifamily, commercial, or institutional building types.
Project management experience including consultant coordination, drafting, and production.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Registered professional with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in the design industry.
Additional accreditations such as WELL, Passive House, or similar are highly valued.
Experience with SketchUp, AutoCAD, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required.
Passion for design and engagement in extracurricular or industry-related activities is encouraged.
Work Environment The studio consists of 12 employees and offers a hybrid schedule. The environment fosters collaboration in a team-oriented setting, valuing diverse perspectives. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Washington, DC.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $85,000.00 - $95,000.00/yr. Quarterly, merit‑based profit‑sharing bonuses. In recent years, our PMs have received an average of $10,000 per year in bonuses.
Paid Time off: 3 weeks/yr (15 work days per 12 months of work). Up to 1 week of unused vacation may be rolled over to the next year.
In addition, we close our office between 12/24 and 1/1.
Holidays: 7 holidays/year plus 1 floating holiday.
Continuing Education stipend: $250/yr.
Reimbursements: AIA, LEED, Well or similar membership/accreditation.
Health insurance: Company pays 50% of medical and dental plans.
Retirement fund: Simple IRA; Company matches contributions up to 3%.
Paid sick leave as required by DC Law.
Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Washington, DC.
