Customer Service Representative (Scientific)

Pay Rate Low: 25 | Pay Rate High: 35

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative / Lead to support a fast-growing Life Sciences organization. This is a B2B, customer-facing role focused on managing inbound inquiries, processing orders, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Location:

Cook County, IL (Onsite)

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:15 AM – 5:00 PM

Type:

Contract-to-Hire (6 months)

This role is open to candidates at different experience levels:

Customer Service Representative: $25–30/hour | 2+ years of experience

Customer Service Lead: $30–35/hour | 5+ years of experience and/or prior leadership or mentoring experience

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for customers via phone and email

Handle inbound inquiries related to orders, product information, and documentation

Process and track orders, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up

Provide SDS sheets, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and other customer documentation

Identify customer needs and collaborate with internal teams for resolution

Maintain accurate customer records and system updates

Escalate issues as needed to ensure customer satisfaction

Additional Responsibilities (Lead Level)

Handle escalated or complex customer issues

Provide guidance and support to team members

Assist with workflow coordination and process improvements

Help ensure service levels and response times are met

Qualifications

2+ years of B2B customer service experience required (5+ years for Lead consideration)

Experience in Life Sciences or similar industries (Abbott, AbbVie, Medline, etc.) strongly preferred

Strong communication skills with a professional demeanor

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

High attention to detail and organizational skills

Comfortable working onsite daily and interacting with customers/suppliers
