Primary Purpose:

Provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Virtual Learning programs. This position is responsible for program design collaboration, instructional quality, compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, student performance outcomes, staffing, budgeting, and continuous improvement.

Ensure that students have access to rigorous, relevant, and flexible learning opportunities that prepare them for college, career, and workforce success.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master’s Degree, Valid Texas Teacher Certificate, Valid Principal or Mid-Management Certificate Valid CTE certification or demonstrated experience in Career and Technical Education preferred

Experience:

Minimum of five years of experience in public education Minimum of three years of campus administrator experience Experience in CTE programs, instructional leadership, or program administration preferred Experience with virtual, online, or blended learning environments preferred

Strong organizational skills and experience in instructional leadership Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written utilizing tact and diplomacy and maintain effective working relationships Skill in working with and presenting to diverse populations of educators, students, and parents Ability to be self-motivated and willing to take initiative with professional development Skill in working in a collaborative team-based environment in a positive manner Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables Ability to implement and interpret policy, procedures, and data Ability to understand and oversee the purchasing process

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Collaborate in the design of, implement, and oversee the district’s Virtual Learning program, including full-time and/or part-time virtual students.

Serve as Principal of the Lobo Connect Virtual Learning program.

Ensure virtual courses meet TEA attendance, instructional time, and curriculum requirements.

Supervise virtual instructors, facilitators, and support staff as applicable.

Oversee student enrollment, orientation, progress monitoring, and academic support for virtual learners.

Collaborate with campus and district leadership to ensure alignment between virtual and on-campus instructional practices.

Support the integration of technology platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and digital curriculum resources.

Communicate and collaborate with the PEIMS department on efficient and accurate CTE coding and systems.

Ensure accessibility, engagement, and instructional quality in the virtual learning environment.

Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Learning Services to develop a vision for the district’s CTE program.

Coordinates and oversees the District’s CTE program.

Oversees campus budgets for CTE programs.

Monitors, communicates, and works with administration on the status of CCMR progress for students.

Works with business and industry partners to determine the need for and extent of training for existing and future employment opportunities for students.

Assists in planning for new and additional career and technical programs to be offered at the high school.

Collaborates with postsecondary institutions to establish articulation agreements, document student enrollment in articulated courses, and maintains record of staff certification for Tech Prep programs and Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) classes.

Directs the effective instruction and continuing development and improvement of career and technical education programs, services and industry level certification programs.

Administers the GOF and Activity Financial Accounts for all TEA approved career and technical education programs in the District.

Oversees and revises applicable procedures related to career and technical education and pursuing industry level certifications.

Serves as a consultant to the professional staff on matters pertaining to CTE education and assists in interpreting the CTE instructional program to the community.

Consults and advises on facilities planning and educational specifications. Assists in the development of equipment standards, facilitates the proper equipping of new and existing schools, supervises equipment maintenance, repair, replacements, and procedures.

Coordinates middle/high school department chair meetings in assigned content area(s).

Designs and arranges for the delivery of staff development.

Identifies, disseminates, and supports action on professional research to share with other professionals to guide instructional decisions and program excellence for CTE and Virtual Schools.

Works collaboratively with the instructional services department and other staff to provide coordinated program support to schools.

Designs, implements, and evaluates instructional programs and identifies appropriate instructional strategies and materials in accordance with local, state, and national standards.

Supports the identification and implementation of assessment practices, which will drive instruction and provide close alignment with school improvement, standards, and district expectations.

Serves as a member of committees as assigned.

Serves as a support team member for designated schools.

Encourages and supports development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.

Plan, support and deliver staff development aligned to the district mission, using program data and teacher input, while also collaborating with campus level planning and decision-making committees to plan to deliver professional learning that promotes rigorous instruction.

Write and maintain a viable, aligned curriculum and write assessments.

Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective action.

Partner with district and campus level leadership in directing educational services to meet student’s needs.

Works to support and strengthen the district’s STEM initiative.

Participate in the district-level decision making process to establish and review the district’s goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs.

Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to examine curriculum and instructional program effectiveness.

Support common vision for school improvement and staff. Direct planning activities and put programs in place with staff to ensure attainment of school and district vision.

Partner with campus principals and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Learning Services in identifying, analyzing, and applying research findings to promote school improvement.

Apply research and district data to improve the content, sequence, and results of the teaching and learning process.

Maintain professional behavior, promote a positive image, appearance, and work ethic to represent the district in a positive manner at all times and work in a team environment that supports the vision and mission of the District.

Provide for two-way communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community.

Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Contributes to a positive collegial working environment.

Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business.

Performs other duties as assigned.
