The John Dickinson School Athletic Director Position is an EPER position. The successful candidate will maintain teaching responsibilities in the area of certification. This position may be split into two positions for the middle and high school.
Key Responsibilities & Job Functions
Compliance & Administration:
Enforces DIAA and school district policies for athletic eligibility and safety. Manages all electronic scheduling platforms and ensures sanctioned events.
Scheduling & Event Management:
Schedules interscholastic contests, officials, and transportation. Manages game-day operations, including ticketing, security, and facility supervision.
Coaching & Personnel:
Recruits, hires, mentors, and evaluates coaches, often managing 50-65 staff members.
Student-Athlete Support:
Monitors academic performance and ensures student-athletes are meeting behavioral and academic expectations.
Communication & Public Relations:
Serves as the primary liaison between coaches, parents, administration, and the community.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
Previous experience in coaching, sports management, or educational leadership.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of DIAA sports regulations, safety standards, and Title IX.
Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and technological skills, including scheduling software.
Availability:
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to manage events.
Common Performance Metrics
Maintaining accurate rosters, reports, and inventory.
Ensuring safe, high-quality athletic facilities.
Positive representation of the school and promotion of good sportsmanship.
