This position focuses on resolving non-performing loans and managing REO (Real Estate Owned) assets across office, retail, mall, and industrial properties in securitized products as well as non-securitized scenarios. The role includes credit analysis of loans collateralizing commercial mortgage-backed securities, both at issuance and post-issuance.
Duties/Responsibilities
Model cash flows and property valuations in Excel and ARGUS for complex, multi-tenant, commercial assets.
Evaluate commercial leases using NPV analysis for existing and prospective tenants, provide recommendations to management on potential lease transactions, and oversee lease drafting & execution.
Conduct market research for asset valuation, leveraging broker relationships, third-party tools, and knowledge of capital markets.
Perform on-site property inspections and meet with property management teams nationwide.
Oversee third-party property managers, construction managers, and leasing agents.
Manage defaulted mortgages and REO properties, analyzing property values and presenting findings to the credit committee.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies for CWCAM's loan and REO portfolio.
Communicate analysis and conclusions to clients through written reports and direct interactions.
Required Skills/Abilities
Background in structured finance or commercial real estate.
Strong analytical skills for complex spreadsheet and financial model work.
Ability to confidently communicate conclusions in both written and verbal formats, including in new markets.
Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a high degree of initiative, ownership, and independent judgment in managing responsibilities, often working with incomplete information on distressed assets.
Success in this role requires a proactive mindset and the ability to operate autonomously while maintaining accountability.
Must be a self-starter who takes initiative and follows through on responsibilities.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Proficiency in ARGUS Enterprise (non-academic), with at least 2 years of experience in asset management, CRE finance, development, or brokerage.
The base salary range for this role is provided in accordance with local regulations, but salary represents just one component of the total compensation package. Additional elements such as bonuses, overtime, deferred cash (where applicable), benefits, perks, and company contributions to 401(k) plans-often result in total compensation significantly exceeding the base salary. Compensation is influenced by individual performance, tenure, experience, geographic location, business unit needs, company performance, and market conditions.
