Role Description Marcus & Millichap is seeking a detail-oriented Public Relations Specialist with strong writing, communication, and relationship management skills to support PR efforts across the Western Division. This hands‑on role translates agent activity and market insights into clear, compelling stories. You will manage media and internal relationships through confident communication across a wide range of stakeholders.

This role will manage day‑to‑day regional PR activities, including drafting and editing press releases and award nominations, maintaining accurate media contact lists, coordinating approvals, and tracking press coverage. You will collaborate closely with Field Marketing, divisional leadership, and marketing partners across social, advertising, and other channels to ensure PR efforts align with divisional priorities.

Position supports Pacific Time Zone operations; requires consistent availability during Pacific Time business hours while working closely with California based teams.

Base salary range: $33.00–$36.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

Draft, edit, route for approval, and distribute press releases in AP style; manage internal stakeholder reviews and publish approved content via Sitecore; respond to and manage incoming media inquiries from local reporters and outlets

Identify newsworthy transactions, agent achievements, and market insights to develop compelling PR stories

Coordinate with Corporate PR to align regional announcements and media outreach with national messaging

Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, divisional leadership, corporate PR, Field Marketing, and local media contacts

Maintain and update regional media lists; monitor local press activity and coverage

Develop and manage annual editorial calendars, track deadlines, and pitch stories to media outlets

Assist in drafting nomination narratives for industry awards

Track and analyze PR performance metrics, including media placements, story pickups, and audience reach; prepare performance summaries and insights for divisional leadership

Collaborate with the marketing team to amplify earned media coverage across digital channels

Provide marketing support for divisional initiatives and special projects as needed

Support the Field Marketing team by completing other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, writing, advertising, or a related business field

Minimum of one year of experience in public relations, journalism, or marketing; in‑house PR, agency experience, newsroom experience or exposure to real estate, financial services, or brokerage environments is a strong plus

Experience pitching stories or building relationships with media outlets is a plus

Exceptional writing and editing skills with knowledge of AP style; excellent verbal communication and presentation abilities

Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and workflows efficiently

Demonstrated project management and collaboration skills in a fast‑paced environment

Ability to learn and apply commercial real‑estate concepts and terminology

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft O365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience with task management or project tracking tools such as Asana or Monday

Must be available to support Pacific Time Zone (PST) working hours
