
Workforce Solutions Consultant

The Workforce Solutions Consultant is responsible for generating new business, securing training contracts, and expanding Iowa Western’s presence with regional employers. This role actively prospects, engages, and meets with companies to understand workforce challenges and recommend training programs, apprenticeships, and workforce solutions offered through Iowa Western.
The consultant serves as one of the primary external representatives of the Business and Community Education division and plays a key role in achieving revenue goals, employer engagement targets, and new program growth.
Business Development & Revenue Generation (40%)
Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new employer partnerships and training opportunities.
Conduct regular onsite visits to businesses, HR departments, and operations leaders to promote Iowa Western’s workforce training portfolio.
Create and meet quarterly and annual revenue, outreach, and partnership goals.
Develop proposals, quotes, and scopes of work for customized training programs.
Maintain a robust pipeline of employer prospects and opportunities.
Solution Design & Program Promotion (25%)
Identify employer skill gaps and work with internal partners to develop solutions; IWCC training programs, apprenticeships, CE offerings, or contract training solutions.
Collaborate with CE, Economic Development, Adult Ed, and other departments to build tailored training packages.
Promote available funding options for companies
Assist employers in navigating the enrollment process and scheduling training.
Work with marketing to develop promotional materials and campaigns for high-demand programs.
Account Management & Employer Retention (15%)
Manage ongoing employer relationships to drive repeat training business.
Conduct post-training follow-up to ensure satisfaction and uncover future needs.
Troubleshoot issues, coordinate internally, and maintain a high level of customer service.
Maintain long‑term partnerships with key employers, economic development groups, chambers, and industry associations.
Salesforce & Reporting (10%)
Maintain accurate, timely records of employer activity, opportunities, and training outcomes in Salesforce.
Track progress toward revenue goals, employer contacts, and outreach metrics.
Use Salesforce data to prioritize outreach and evaluate trends.
Community Engagement (10%)
Represent Iowa Western at industry meetings, HR roundtables, workforce boards, conferences, and community events.
Support advisory board meetings and employer listening sessions.
Maintain strong relationships with regional economic development partners and workforce agencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Associate’s degree in business, workforce development, education, communication, or related field
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in business development, account management, corporate training, economic development, or similar role
Demonstrated ability to meet outreach, revenue, or sales targets
Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and presentation skills
Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel regionally
Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record
Work is performed primarily in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and keyboards. Ability to lift up to 10lbs. The position also requires frequent visits to company sites, where walking is necessary and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
