REPORTABILITY : Vice President of Policy Advocacy

SALARY RANGE:

$85,000.00 to $105,000.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as state legislative and regulatory representative for California Farm Bureau.

Advocate for California's farmers and ranchers before the California State Legislature, the Office of the Governor, and state agencies. Advocacy responsibilities include bill and regulatory analyses, recommending policy positions to VP of Policy Advocacy; communications with appropriate legislators, administration, and regulatory staff; and coordination with CAFB policy, political affairs and communications staff where appropriate.

Advise and assist county Farm Bureau's to puruse legislative and regulatory actions that are aligned with CAFB policy positions.

Interacts with the California State Legislature, the Office of the Governor, state agencies and other agricultural organizations as appropriate on behalf of CAFB.

Position Requirements:

Education, professional experience, and communication skills to respond to a wide variety of technical and political matters relating to agricultural or natural resources policy.

Professional or educational experience in agricultural or previous lobbying/advocacy experience is preferred.

Solid understanding of the State legislative and regulatory process.

Demonstrated ability to influence with the ability to distill complicated information into easily understood concepts to those that may not have in depth understanding of the agriculture community.

Proven multi-tasking skills, initiative, punctuality and responsiveness to multiple priorities, projects, and requests.

Ability to work on a high-performance, fast-paced team with a collaborative nature in a changing work environment.

Strong time management, listening and writing skills, including attention to detail.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Operate with high ethical standards while using sound judgement.

Proven ability to work well with a diverse group of legislators and staff who represent a broad spectrum of political views and positions.
