SUMMARY The Media Planner works with the Media Supervisor and/or Associate Media Director to develop and execute media tactics that achieve client objectives. This role spans digital and traditional media strategy & planning and works closely with cross‑functional teams (Analytics, Paid Social, SEM, Programmatic, Project Management, Ad Ops). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews and understands client briefs and media/business objectives. Participates in internal strategic discussions, suggesting how to reach target audiences and improve the media mix. Analyzes research and applies critical thinking based on brand and category knowledge. Questions the status quo and brings ideas to align media plans with strategy. Participates in plan presentations to internal teams and clients. Helps build media plans using tools such as Nielsen NMI, Basis, Resonate, and MRI/Simmons. Develops partner consideration and manages outreach for direct buys, including RFP development and negotiation. Coordinates with internal departments on plan development, analytics, and investments. Participates in status calls and presentations. Leads or oversees trafficking process with ad ops, builds naming conventions and creative mapping to align messages. Responsible for campaign setup in workflow tools. Pulls audience and data insights, as well as competitive information, for planning and optimization. Supports maintenance of flowcharts, billing and budget trackers. Reconciles vendor billing and invoicing against budget and delivery. Pulls and reviews pacing reports for direct buys in detail. Identifies over/under performance and recommends optimizations. Excellent Excel skills and ability to navigate dashboards. Works with analytics team members to problem‑solve. Contributes to client‑facing reporting presentations and calls. Works closely with investment and analytics teams for strategic alignment. Coordinates with external partners, including agencies and vendors, for execution. Stays updated on latest trends in media marketing and advertising. REQUIREMENTS 1–3+ years in a media planner or coordinator role. Strong client‑services skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage expectations and priorities with teams and clients. Acute attention to detail. Problem‑solving ability. Strong time‑management skills and ability to work under pressure. Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite.
