Senior Asset Manager - Multifamily
Our client is an entrepreneurial real estate operator and investment firm committed to improving the performance and health of its communities. The portfolio includes value focused multifamily assets with meaningful operational complexity, offering candidates the opportunity to marry rigorous financial analysis with impactful, boots-on-the-ground asset execution. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives at the intersection of operations, finance, and strategic problem solving, and who wants to influence asset outcomes in a growing, mission-aligned organization. The Senior Asset Manager at a multifamily owner/operator will be in a highly visible role with real decision-making authority. The Senior Asset Manager will lead the financial and operational performance of a multifamily portfolio, taking full ownership of business plans, budgets, capital strategy, and market positioning. Other responsibilities: Own full lifecycle performance for an assigned portfolio of multifamily assets, including budgets, revenue/expense controls, cash management, and capital planning. Monitor weekly operations and monthly financials, identifying early-stage risks and upside opportunities. Lead the creation and execution of annual business plans in partnership with operations and senior leadership. Manage capital improvement projects and heavy-turn assets requiring significant TI coordination and execution discipline. Conduct regular property inspections to evaluate performance, physical condition, and market positioning. Ensure accurate forecasting of capital needs, value-add returns, and long-term ROI. Provide data-driven recommendations on asset performance versus underwriting targets, with clear, actionable improvement strategies. Lead asset-level valuations, benchmarking, and competitive market assessments. Support acquisitions and due diligence efforts with operational insights and forward-looking integration strategy. Represent ownership interests in interactions with lenders, property managers, vendors, and partners. Prepare internal and external reporting for senior leadership, investment teams, and investor relations. Serve as a strategic partner to operations, construction, finance, and the broader leadership team. MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants. A successful Sr. Asset Manager - Multifamily should have: 7+ years of multifamily experience, with at least 5 years of direct asset management responsibility. Strong operational background-comfortable managing capex-heavy, high-touch portfolios. Advanced financial and analytical skills, including Excel modeling and budget management. Experience managing third-party property management teams with a firm but collaborative approach. Proven ability to enhance asset value through operational efficiencies, capital planning, and strategic decision-making. Exceptional communication, organizational, and project management skills. Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment. Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred. Competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $175,000 for well qualified candidates. Open to less experienced individuals who want to work toward a Senior Asset Manager level role; salary would be commensurate. Hybrid role blending ops + finance - perfect for candidates who want more influence than a typical institutional AM role. Exposure to complex, sub-A assets that sharpen both your operational instincts and investment acumen. High autonomy and visibility working directly with senior leadership. Small, growing Austin-based team where your work has a measurable, outsized impact.
