Yard Porter

The Yard Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, safety, and functionality of the facility grounds and yard operations. This role supports plant efficiency by managing trailer movement, maintaining equipment appearance, and ensuring exterior areas are clean, safe, and compliant with company standards. This is a hands-on position requiring experience operating yard equipment, forklifts, and mobile equipment. Grounds & Facility Maintenance Mow and maintain all grass and landscaped areas Perform weed control (weed whipping, edging, spraying as needed) Pick up trash and debris throughout the yard and property Clean and maintain storm drains and water runoff areas Assist with painting projects (curbs, railings, safety markings, buildings, etc.) Maintain organized storage areas and staging zones Assist with scale area cleanliness when needed Ensure exterior areas meet safety and environmental standards Equipment Operation & Support Operate the forklift safely and efficiently Operate a tractor for grounds maintenance and yard tasks Wash trucks, trailers, and mobile equipment Perform basic maintenance on front-end loaders, skid steers, and forklifts Conduct daily equipment inspections and report deficiencies Ability to learn and perform light preventative maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, cleaning, basic repairs) Requirements Minimum 12 years of experience operating forklifts Experience operating a yard spotter or tractor preferred Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform light maintenance Experience operating loaders, skid steers, or similar equipment preferred Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred but not required if applicable) Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to lift 50+ pounds Strong work ethic and self-motivated Ability to follow directions and work independently Physical Requirements Prolonged standing and walking Climbing in and out of equipment Lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching Working outdoors in heat, cold, and varying weather conditions Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
