Ymca Sports, Health And Fitness Programs Director

Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA Sports, Health and Fitness programs. 1. Directs, evaluates, and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. 2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs youth sports coordinator, Building Supervisor (MOD) staff, fitness instructors, personal trainers, and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance annually. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Maintain personnel records including appropriate certifications for part-time staff. 3. Create and Schedule Wellness classes and MOD schedules. 4. Organize and schedule program registrations. 5. Establishes and implements new sports, health and wellness programs and activities. Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 6. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information in a timely manner. 7. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. 8. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. 9. Coordinates use of facilities for programming activities, rentals, and events. 10. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events. 11. Models' relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. 12. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programming. 13. Monitors daily operations of the sports, health and wellness areas to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies. 14. Monitor program equipment for repair/replacement as budget permits. 15. Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required. 16. Coordinate Forever Well Programs, (AOA & Silver Sneakers) Brain fitness program, and other evidence-based programs. 17. Work closely with membership operations to coordinate new member orientations and retention plan. 18. All other duties as assigned. Requirements

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, Health & Wellness, or related field preferred Minimum of 13 years of experience in sports programming, wellness, or recreation management Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers preferred Experience working in a YMCA or nonprofit setting is a plus Certifications (or ability to obtain within 6090 days) CPR/AED and First Aid certification Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team-building skills Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed Passion for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
