PURCHASING AGENT - MONTGOMERY, AL The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing metal products that align with the company's operational needs. This role requires strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of supply chain processes, and the ability to manage inventory effectively. The Buyer will play a crucial role in ensuring that the organization maintains optimal stock levels while minimizing costs.

Duties

Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their offerings.

Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure the best possible terms.

Manage the procurement process from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely receipt of goods.

Collaborate with various departments, including logistics and inventory management, to forecast demand and maintain appropriate stock levels.

Utilize ERP systems for tracking orders, managing inventory, and analyzing purchasing data.

Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality or delivery.

Stay updated on industry trends, e-commerce developments, and changes in supply chain dynamics to optimize purchasing strategies.

Qualifications

Metal Materials experience in sourcing and procurement within a supply chain environment required.

Strong knowledge of logistics processes and inventory management principles.

Familiarity AS400 systems is highly desirable.

Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong vendor relationships.

Ability to analyze data effectively to make informed purchasing decisions.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
