Customs Tariff Specialist

to join our

Customs & Trade Compliance Team

based in

Grapevine, TX .

This role is responsible for examining the supply chain workflow through specific development efforts that establish accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and duty optimization. The position focuses on developing predictive analytical models to diagnose the financial health of Airbus Helicopters as related to tariff spend, specifically bridging the gap between Import Compliance and Financial Controlling. The role ensures all possible compliant and allowable duty mitigation opportunities are explored and then any additional duties paid that could not be mitigated are properly recovered from sales transactions or allocated to the correct programs and lines of business.

Your Challenges:

Tariff Spend Analysis & Financial Recovery: 40%

Perform full statistical analysis of tariff spend to ensure financial health and safeguard company assets.

Assist in the development and implementation of tariff mitigation strategies.

Interface directly with Financial Controlling to reconcile duties paid and ensure 100% recovery via allocation to existing inventories or various sales transactions or program allocations.

Develop and maintain sophisticated models to allocate tariff costs to the proper helicopter programs or specific transactions or lines of business.

Monitor the changing tariff landscape and provide guidance to Cost Accounting.

Extract and communicate key performance drivers and create actionable reporting on duty recovery and cost allocation.

Tariff Classification & Compliance: 20%

Participate in the process to determine and verify HTS codes for products to ensure strict compliance with customs regulations.

Support Import teams to maintain accurate documentation and monitor regulatory changes to minimize service provider costs and audit risks.

Implement and optimize automated compliance systems, tools, and software reporting to improve classification accuracy, tariff mitigation, tariff analysis, allocations, and recovery.

Broker Management & Advisory: 20%

Support efforts to manage external customs brokers and freight forwarders, ensuring timely and accurate data is available to support tariff management, allocation, and monitoring.

Lead ad‑hoc projects to prototype and deploy data analytics solutions within Airbus Helicopters North America (AHNA) to simplify internal processes.

Provide guidance to internal teams (procurement, logistics) on international trade compliance and shifting regulations.

Departmental Analytics: 20%

Support the Supply Chain Organization in other data analytics activities as well as analytical system development and prototyping.

Fully participate in Departmental and Company continuous improvement activities, leading those that fall under this position's roles and responsibilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

Provide ad‑hoc analysis in support of other Logistics or Supply Chain functions.

Your Boarding Pass:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain, International Business, Computer Science, Statistics, or Finance.

Minimum of five (5) years' experience in: Trade compliance, customs brokerage, or financial analytics

Advanced MS‑Excel modeling for data cleansing and manipulation of large, fragmented datasets.

Translation of large / fragmented source data into logical solutions.

Experience in operational process mapping, analysis, and improvement skills.

US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license).

Mathematical, quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills used to assess Supply Chain health.

Knowledge to analyze large and multi‑dimensional data sets.

Well organized, detail oriented, and self‑directed.

Critical, strategic, and analytical problem solver with the ability to translate data into logical solutions.

Solid ability to make good judgments and quick decisions.

Operational process mapping, analysis, and improvement skills.

Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English.

Able to tailor communication style to meet internal or external customer needs.

Strong communication skills to address technical / development efforts to end users with little or no development background.

Strong team building skills required, able to communicate company and departmental objectives and direction while encouraging a high level of team engagement and passion.

Experience with advanced MS‑Excel modeling.

Expertise in HTS classification, valuation, and Rules of Origin (e.g., CBP in the U.S.).

Preferred:

Supply Chain experience relevant to the Aerospace industry.

Production and Inventory Management Experience involving Supply Chain Management.

Experience managing Import transactions including Customs Entry, Post Entry Operations, Protests, Audit, and FTZ operations.

APICS or similar certifications.

Customs Brokers License.

Data cleansing and manipulation from SAP or Demand Planning tools similar to Blue Yonder or SAP‑IBP.

Experience with data mining and reporting involving tools such as SQL and MS‑Excel.

Understanding of U.S. Import regulations and FTZ operations.

Experience with visualizations using Tableau, Alteryx, or QlikSense.

Any level of familiarity with German or French.

One year of experience with data manipulation tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, or QlikSense.

Visualization tools such as Spotfire, Qlik Sense, or Tableau.

Material planning tools such as MRP, DRP.

SAP experience involving data table structures and Supply Chain specific transaction codes.

SAP‑IBP or Blue Yonder experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Onsite: 5 Days – Hybrid work options available up to 2 days.

Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment, documents, reports and engineering drawings daily.

Hearing: able to hear and participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on a production floor including safety warnings or alarms daily.

Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily.

Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.

Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs frequently.

Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs frequently.

Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment daily.

Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on a computer daily.

Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Standing: able to stand for discussion in offices on the production floor several times a week.

Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice rarely.

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily.

Personal Protective Equipment required: Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
