*Middle School Choir Instructor (Substitute Rate)*
*Position Summary*The Middle School Choir Instructor Substitute is responsible for leading choir classes for middle school students, focusing on vocal development, music literacy, performance skills, and student engagement. This position is ideal for an individual with demonstrated musical ability and experience working with youth. A teaching degree is not required for this position, as it is compensated at the substitute salary rate unless the selected candidate meets qualifications for teacher licensure.
Qualifications
* Substitute Teacher Licensure or Teacher Licensure in New Mexico.
* Additional training, upon employment, as assigned by the District.
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
* Demonstrated musical ability, with emphasis on vocal or choral music
* Experience working with children or adolescents (school, church, community, or private instruction)
* Ability to manage a classroom and engage middle school students
* Reliable attendance and professional conduct.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan and lead daily choir instruction for middle school students
* Teach basic vocal techniques, ensemble skills, and age-appropriate music literacy
* Prepare students for performances, concerts, or school events as applicable
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
* Collaborate with school administration and staff as needed
* Maintain appropriate supervision, attendance records, and basic classroom documentation
Preferred Qualifications
* Prior experience directing or assisting with a choir or vocal ensemble
* Ability to read music and teach basic music theory
* Experience accompanying singers or working with accompaniment tracks
Compensation
* Paid at the district substitute salary rate
* If the selected candidate meets state requirements for teacher licensure, compensation may be adjusted according to the appropriate certified salary schedule
Supervision
* Reports to the school principal or designated administrator
Pay: From $120.00 per day
