Resident Director

The Resident Director oversees residence life programs and operations to create a safe, inclusive living environment that promotes student growth and development while managing staff and addressing residential community needs. Essential Job Duties Supervise and train Resident Assistant staff members. Oversee residence hall operations including maintenance, safety, and facility management. Plan, implement, and evaluate residence hall programs and community events. Conduct student conduct meetings and provide appropriate resources and referrals. Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency situations. Maintain accurate administrative records and documentation. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee. Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of experience Experience in student affairs or residence life preferred Experience in conflict resolution and crisis management preferred Licenses/Certifications Valid driver's license Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated experience in staff supervision and development Excellent conflict resolution and crisis management skills Proven ability to build and maintain positive community relationships Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with diverse populations Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible Ability to communicate in a courteous manner Physical Demands Frequently required to communicate effectively with diverse populations Regularly performs tasks that involve repetitive wrist and finger movement Regularly operates a computer and other standard office equipment Occasionally required to move about the residence hall and similar spaces Work Environment Work is primarily performed in a quiet office setting with moderate noise levels from typical office equipment and conversations. The position occasionally requires exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions when conducting facility rounds or responding to emergencies. Supervisory Responsibility This position provides direct supervision to individual contributors and offers continuous performance feedback. The role may also involve active participation in departmental activities to meet schedules and resolve issues as needed.
