Public Works Director

$5,427.64 - $6,597.33 Monthly Clearlake, CA Full-Time Continuous Assists with management responsibility for all Public Works Department services and activities including engineering and maintenance operations; recommend and administer policies and procedures. Assists with the development and implementation of Public Works Department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned service area; establish, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; allocate resources accordingly. Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor work load, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement; direct the implementation of charges. Represent the Public Works Department to other City departments, elected officials and outside agencies; explain Public Works Department programs, policies, and activities; resolve sensitive issues. Select, train, motivate and evaluate Public Works Department personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination proceedings. Under administrative direction, plan, direct and coordinate the Public Works Department's work plan; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assigns projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; review and evaluate work methods and procedures. Retirement: In compliance with AB 340, CalPERS retirement formula is either 2% at age 62, or 2% at age 55, depending on the individual's eligibility. Employees are not covered under the Social Security System Health Insurance: Excellent medical, dental and vision benefits for employee and dependents (city pays 80% of premium) State Disability Insurance is paid by the city. Leave: 80 hours annual vacation leave and 96 hours annual sick leave. Life Insurance: The city provides $20,000 life insurance with employee option to purchase an additional $10,000. Deferred Compensation: Several voluntary employee-paid deferred compensation programs are available.
