Director of Safety
Bennett On-Site Services, LLC. is seeking a Director of Safety to oversee and lead Safety at our Crane Rental Company. Job Summary: The Safety Director will lead all aspects of safety and quality management for our crane and rigging operations. This includes managing a team, developing training and compliance programs, ensuring adherence to key regulations, and overseeing our ISO Compliance to promote continual improvement, risk reduction, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with expertise in crane-specific safety, job site protocols, and quality systems in heavy construction or industrial services. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team of safety coordinators, trainers, and quality personnel, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and development to build a strong safety-first and quality-driven culture. Develop, deliver, and oversee comprehensive training programs covering crane operations (setup, inspection, operation, signaling, rigging, dismantling), basic crane safety, job site hazards (e.g., fall protection, electrical risks, pinch points), and PPE/emergency response. Ensure full compliance with OSHA 1926.1400 (Cranes and Derricks in Construction), ANSI/ASME B30 series standards for cranes and rigging equipment, Texas DOT and Florida DOT regulations (e.g., oversize/overweight permits, transportation safety), and related ASME guidelines. Maintain and improve our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, including process documentation, internal audits, management reviews, supplier evaluations, corrective/preventive actions, and continual improvement initiatives to support certification/recertification with a focus on customer requirements. Conduct regular job site audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses to enhance safety and quality performance metrics (e.g., incident rates, nonconformities, training completion, customer feedback). Integrate safety and quality into daily operations, collaborating with operations, HR, procurement, and executive leadership to align policies, track KPIs, and report on performance. Stay current on regulatory changes, industry best practices, and ISO updates; lead external audits, certifications (e.g., NCCCO, OSHA outreach, ISO surveillance), and partnerships. Promote a proactive approach to risk management, process standardization, and data-driven improvements that reduce rework, enhance efficiency, and support business growth. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Minimum 7-10 years in safety/quality leadership, with at least 5 years in crane, rigging, heavy construction, or industrial services. Proven experience leading teams and implementing training/compliance programs. In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1926.1400, ANSI/ASME B30 standards, Texas/Florida DOT regulations, ASME guidelines, and ISO 9001:2015 requirements (including QMS implementation, audits, and continual improvement). Relevant certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30/500 Trainer, NCCCO Certified Crane Operator/Inspector (or equivalent), ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to influence across the organization. Ability to travel to job sites in Texas and potentially Florida. Proficiency in safety/quality management software, Microsoft Office, and documentation tools. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced certifications in safety, quality, or risk management. Hands-on experience maintaining ISO 9001 certification in a mid-sized company ($25M+ revenue) with multi-state operations. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
