West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and includes a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents, and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. The hospital is easily accessible off the Southwest Freeway near the Galleria. West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Activity Aide/Coordinator to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Activity Coordinator assists the Recreation Therapist and Director of Recreation Therapy in designing and implementing appropriate therapeutic recreation services in order to improve the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of the patients. Coordinates entertainment, exercise, relaxation, expression, music, art, and other recreational programs. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Assists recreation therapy department in hospital wide special events. Works with treatment team to develop a structured curriculum adaptable to various cultural background, heritage, and identity of patients. Maintains recreational areas and equipment. Completes documentation accurately and timely. Maintains observation of patients and shares appropriate information with manager. Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe environment. Qualifications Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent required. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, or related field. Licensure and certification Required: CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications. Experience Required: One year of experience in program specialty. Preferred: One year in experience in program specialty in a healthcare environment.
