Description Position Overview
As part of Edward Farr Architects—a small but growing firm operating within a publicly traded worldwide consortium of AE firms, the Architectural Job Captain plays an essential role in the firm’s ability to deliver projects on schedule and to a high standard of technical quality.
Responsibilities
Creating architectural drawings, details, and renderings.
Prioritizing workflows to ensure timely delivery of drawings and project milestones.
Conducting field measurements of existing construction for use in design and documentation.
Performing construction phase site visits to observe progress, quality, and conformance to the design.
Proactively communicating technical challenges and drawing coordination issues.
Assisting in Minnesota Building Code compliance review and documentation.
Reviewing shop drawings for conformance with contract documents.
Preparing BOMA Area Calculations for applicable projects.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Minimum Technical Degree in Architectural Drafting; an Architectural degree is preferred.
Fluency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
Experience preparing construction drawings and details.
Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong personal organization and time management skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills with a self-motivated, detail-oriented approach.
Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with others.
Preferred Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience working in an architectural office on commercial, industrial, and interior design projects.
Familiarity with Minnesota Building Code requirements.
Familiarity with industry tools and systems including BOMA Area Calculation methods
