We are looking for an Area Sales Manager - West US to join our Agricultural Solutions team for our BASF | Nunhems Vegetable Seeds division, supporting the Western US and remotely based in California, or Yuma, AZ. Relocation assistance is available, if applicable.

Responsibilities

As an Area Sales Manager - West US, you will be responsible for implementing the Regional Business Plan, managing resource allocation, and coaching the regional sales team to foster collaboration and high performance.

The position oversees sales planning and execution, introduces new crop hybrids and varieties, and manages short-term crop forecasts.

It requires close collaboration with the Country Sales Managers to align regional and country strategies, and includes monitoring promotional activities and budgets.

Additional duties include managing accounts receivable, preparing reports for stakeholders, liaising with agricultural authorities for licensing, and representing the company in regulatory and legal matters.

Managing and developing the team of Account Managers and Sales Specialists by coaching on the job and behavior, and executing performance and merit reviews, development dialogues, and POC inputs.

Designing sales and market-development plans with sales representatives for customers in the assigned regions—aligned with crop strategy and country business plans and incorporating price, product, promotion, and place to ensure crop profitability.

Coordinating with the Regional Crop Leader and Customer Marketing to design and implement successful product/variety introduction strategies and robust customer loyalty/engagement programs.

Managing sales forecasting for each crop in the region and advising on production planning to Country Managers and Regional Crop Leads to optimize production schedules and stock levels.

Executing claim handling in line with Global Marketing and Sales policy to resolve complaints efficiently and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Ensuring team adherence to QHSE and Compliance standards and managing personnel flow in coordination with HR within the designated region.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

8+ years of experience in sales.

Significant experience in the vegetable seeds industry (5+ years preferred).

Considerable people management experience (5+ years preferred).

Strong management and communication skills, with competence in business and marketing.

Ability to speak and write in English.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25-35%.

Pay transparency BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $154,240 - $212,080. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
