Director of Accounting – Healthcare Focus Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Director of Accounting

to lead financial operations within a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will provide analytical insights, oversee day-to-day accounting activities, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and review accrual accounting processes, including revenue, reserve accruals, treasury, and other income/expense streams.

Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial records.

Ensure adherence to GAAP and coordinate accounting policy discussions.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis with attention to healthcare compliance.

Assist the accounting team with external audits and financial reporting.

Prepare regular and ad hoc reports and analyses for leadership decision-making.

Mentor and manage accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required); CPA preferred.

Experience:

7+ years in general accounting, financial reporting, or analysis.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and compliance standards.

5+ years in a management role preferred.

Experience in healthcare accounting or public accounting at Manager/Director level is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.

Experience with ERP systems such as GreatPlains (GP) preferred; NextGen a plus.

Other Skills:

Superior verbal and written communication.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Willingness to travel as needed.

Physical & Work Environment:

Work may require standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and other general physical tasks.

Flexible work environment with potential for remote work based on departmental needs.
