Remote Senior Nuclear Project Director

Job Description Summary The Project Director is responsible for planning and executing very large contracts for the design and construction of new nuclear power plants, including managing the quality, cost, schedule, risk, and stakeholder engagement of the entire execution process. This position will report into the GEH BWRX-300 Operations Leader, and work across the direct and indirect teams that are contributing to the BWRX-300. Job Description Essential Responsibilities: As the Senior Project Director you will: Be responsible for on-time project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources

Support the Product Development and Sales team during pre-award phase in the creation of scopes, schedules, and budgets.

Support the development of project revenue and budget costs and uses such budgets as a baseline for project cost performance

Manage all commercial aspects of the project portfolio

Ensure performance against all financial metrics

Organize project cost structure in Oracle ERP

Perform customer work release review and compares with GEH estimate upon transfer of the proposal file from Commercial Operations to Project Management

Lead customer, internal, and/or supplier project kickoff meetings.

Accountable for overall project management strategy; interfaces & cooperates with all project management functions within Advanced Reactor Project Office and with supplier PMO

Accountable for development and issuance of the Project Management Plan & related project plans and project procedures; promotes the implementation of project plans and project procedures across the larger project team

Recommend and implement improvements in project management processes and procedures

Lead the development and deployment of project infrastructure and project tools

Ensure compliance with U. S. government requirements

Identify and communicate project resources demands and coordinate resource supply within a matrix organization, particularly with Engineering

Support coordination of all activities related to the project; monitor and control progress on project deliverables

Ensure performance against all schedule metrics, particularly on-time delivery (OTD) of deliverables

Ensure the conformance of project deliverables with contract and project requirements; supports the resolution of technical and quality issues during execution of the work scope

Ensure that all project operations are carried out in accordance with the applicable procedures and any applicable customer and statutory requirements

Coordinate & chair regular project meetings with customer teams, internal team, and/or supplier teams; prepare supporting materials for such project meetings

Develop and manage integrated project schedule with key supplier, specifically the Management Control Schedule; leverages schedule system reports, utilizing performance information to evaluate project schedule performance

Leverage internal work force planning tools in P6 ERP

Prepare and organize project correspondence, coordinating response drafts, approving, and issuing final letters consistent with project communication plan; ensures adequate communication to all project stakeholders

Ensure archiving project correspondence and records consistent with Project Configuration Management Plan

Lead, draft, and issue project management meeting notes, action item lists, and project progress reports

Perform production oversight of key suppliers

Support risk assessment and risk management program

Be responsible for project risk management processes and developing and implementing project controls processes and tools

Ensure invoicing is assembled in accordance with the contract terms and government requirements. Provides necessary inputs & review to U. S. Government Accounting

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

Minimum 10 years of project management experience on large power EPC projects or Integrated Power Plant system design (design, construction, commissioning, or operations)

Minimum of 5 years Power Plant Design Experience

Minimum 10 years of nuclear industry experience

Minimum 5 years in a customer facing commercial role with experience in contract negotiation and management

25% travel

Eligibility Requirements: The preferred work location for this role is at the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) headquarters in Wilmington, NC but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered. (Relocation assistance provided)

Desired Characteristics: Master’s degree in engineering or Master of Business Administration

PMP certification

U. S. government contract management experience, including working knowledge of FAR

Experience or familiarity with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) and Sodium Fast Reactor (SFR) designs

Scheduling software experience (Project, P3, P6, etc.)

Project Management Leadership Program

Knowledge of the power industry, customer, and competitive environment

Experience in power plant construction

Demonstrated ability in meeting project budget, schedule, and quality

Contract management & claim experiences

Cost estimating experience

Financial control knowledge and understanding

Past supervisory experience

Demonstrated professional interpersonal and leadership skills, including high level of motivation, integrity, and self-confidence

Ability to take initiative and to work independently

Ability to influence others and lead small teams

Oversees initiatives of substantial scope and impact

Ability to manage multiple project responsibilities concurrently

Extreme attention to detail, follow up, highly organized

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
