Creating a world where pets live longer, healthier lives, from their very first meal. Learn more about our brands.

We’re Looking For A(n): Director, Digital Commerce (Product & Platforms) Location: Hybrid (El Segundo, CA and/or Burbank/North Hollywood, CA) or US Remote

What You’ll Be Doing: The Director of Digital Commerce owns Golden Pet Brands' (GPB) end-to-end digital commerce ecosystem — from acquisition funnels through subscription lifecycle, platform architecture, and payments. This is a systems thinker and operator who connects marketing, customer experience, payments, and engineering into a unified growth engine. The role is responsible for defining where GPB's commerce stack goes over a 1-3 year horizon, ensuring today's business keeps shipping and improving, and shifting the company from reactive technology to proactive strategy. Reporting to the VP of Technology, this role partners directly with Marketing, Finance, Customer Experience, and Engineering — and is expected to bring conviction and clarity across all of them.

Own the End-to-End Commerce Ecosystem

Acquisition funnels — landing pages, quizzes, and conversion flows across all GPB brands

Core DTC eCommerce platform experience and performance

Subscription systems — billing, lifecycle management, and retention flows

Payments — authorization, retries, fraud, and fee optimization

Define the Future of Commerce at GPB

Develop and maintain a 1-3 year commerce platform strategy with clear POVs on platform direction (custom vs. SaaS vs. headless/distributed)

Evaluate emerging commerce models including API-driven and distributed commerce capabilities

Drive evaluation of AI-driven personalization and discovery (agentic commerce, on-platform AI discovery, catalog enrichment)

Build and Run a Test-and-Learn System

Design structured experiments that answer strategic platform questions — not just conversion optimizations

Establish clear decision criteria based on data, not opinion, and translate results into roadmap decisions

Build the organization's confidence in when and why to evolve systems

Drive Subscription & LTV Optimization

Understand the economics of retention, churn, rebilling success, and customer lifetime value - find system enablers

Partner with CX and Marketing on cancel save flows, lifecycle triggers, and winback strategy

Partner Across the Organization

Serve as the technology voice in business strategy conversations across Marketing, CX, and Finance

Influence without authority — align strong personalities across functions around shared platform direction

Translate commerce roadmap priorities into engineering capacity and sequencing in partnership with IT leadership

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick ALL of these boxes.)

Systems thinking — sees funnels, subscriptions, and payments as one interconnected ecosystem rather than separate workstreams

Strategic and hands‑on — can define a 3‑year vision on Monday and prioritize next week's sprint on Tuesday

Subscription and LTV expertise — deep understanding of retention drivers, churn dynamics, cohort behavior, and subscription economics; more important than pure conversion optimization

Platform breadth — comfortable across custom‑built commerce stacks, SaaS platforms (Shopify or similar), and headless/API‑driven architectures

Payments fluency — knows enough to ask the right questions, optimize authorization and retry performance, and partner effectively with specialists

Data‑driven decision making — designs experiments, not just reports results; comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete data

Cross‑functional influence — brings clarity and conviction to complex discussions across marketing, brand, and engineering without bureaucracy

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technology, or related field.

8‑12+ years in digital commerce, eCommerce strategy, or growth platforms

Has owned both strategy and execution — not just one

Demonstrated track record managing subscription or LTV‑driven business models

Experience leading platform evaluations and vendor negotiations

Preferred Experience

Experience in subscription-heavy DTC, pet, food, or consumables

Familiarity with Shopify, headless commerce, or API‑driven architecture

Exposure to emerging AI‑driven commerce and agentic discovery models

Experience with Braintree, CyberSource, or similar payment gateway platforms
