
Contract Technical Developer, Apparel

Pact is hiring a Contract Apparel Technical Developer to join the Product team on a 3-month contract, with an immediate start preferred and the possibility to extend and/or convert to a full-time role based on performance and business needs. This role will be responsible for the fit of high-quality apparel, from initial design handoffs through production-ready garments. You will use skills in building specs, pattern making, fitting prototypes, and communicating fit comments to own specific apparel categories. You will report into the Manager of Technical Development and collaborate cross-functionally with Design and Merchandising. The team’s goal is to deliver exceptional and consistent fitting apparel that satisfies current business needs, while helping to reduce prototypes and improve efficiency across the Product team.

Location/Reporting
Location: Boulder, CO (Hybrid)
Reports to: Manager of Technical Development
Duration: 3 months
Schedule: up to 40 hours per week (flexible based on workload)
Responsibilities
Responsible for executing and managing design aesthetics, high-quality samples, and fit consistency through fit knowledge and clear communication
Collaborate with Design and Merchandising for clear design intent and fit direction.
Create technical specs for styles, ensuring all details are consistent and production-friendly
Be the fit expert and lead fit sessions for assigned categories
Independently track and manage workload and sample progress, with ability to prioritize based on deadlines and shifting business needs
Identify potential product, quality, costing, and customer concerns in advance and make informed recommendations
Collaborate with international vendors on construction techniques, production efficiencies, and quality standards
Continuously refine fit knowledge and processes to drive product improvements
Support development of internal blocks, Block Library, SOPs, and How-To-Measure manuals

Technical Skills for Success
Bachelor's Degree in Apparel Design, Development, Pattern Making, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years experience in apparel technical development, product development, or related industry.
Experience developing both cut and sew knit and woven garments for both men’s and women’s apparel.
Advanced knowledge in pattern making, including fit, construction, manipulation, and grading.
Proven ability to visualize, communicate, and implement pattern adjustments in physical form and via 2D pattern software.
Recent experience using 3D apparel software to create original patterns, execute corrections, accurately render garments, and present virtual fit sessions to cross-functional teams.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, online PLM systems, and PC / Mac operations.
Interpersonal Skills for Success
Strong organization skills, high attention to detail, aptitude for accuracy and efficiency.
Experience and proven track record collaborating with overseas partners and vendors.
Ability to make independent decisions based on a higher level of knowledge and expertise.
