Director of Talent Development

to join our Human Resources team. The Director of Talent Development will bring a passion for HCZ's mission: breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. This role is a strategic, forward-thinking leader responsible for enterprise-wide learning initiatives that drive employee growth, leadership capability, and organizational performance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate executive presence, strategic foresight, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with organizational goals, workforce needs, and future capabilities.

Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on learning, leadership development, and performance enablement.

Champion a culture of continuous learning and capability building across all levels of the organization.

Lead the design and facilitation of scalable learning programs, including onboarding, technical training, DEI, compliance, and leadership development.

Conduct learning needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.

Oversee blended learning experiences using modern platforms and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).

Define and track KPIs to measure learning effectiveness, engagement, and business impact.

Leverage data and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to inform decision-making and optimize program ROI.

Partner with People Analytics to ensure alignment with broader HR metrics and reporting.

Align L&D initiatives with performance management systems (e.g., Lattice) and succession planning frameworks.

Support talent reviews, assessments, and the use of tools such as the 9-box model to identify and develop high-potential talent.

Collaborate with HR Business Partners to embed learning into career development and performance processes.

Lead and develop a high-performing L&D team and manage external training partners.

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to co-create learning solutions that meet business needs.

Communicate with clarity and influence across all levels, demonstrating executive presence and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Psychology, or related field (Master's preferred).

8+ years of progressive experience in Learning and Development, with 3+ years in a leadership role.

Proven success in designing and executing enterprise-wide L&D strategies.

Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and performance consulting.

Experience with LMS platforms (e.g., LearnUpon, LinkedIn Learning) and performance systems (e.g., Lattice).

Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to lead through influence and collaborate across a matrixed organization.

Professional certifications (e.g., CPLP, CPTD, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are preferred.

Experience in a global, high-growth, or matrixed environment is preferred.

Background in organizational development and change management is preferred.
