Technical Writer - Machine Learning / Developer Documentation
This is a 6-month, full-time (40 hours/week), remote contract role working PST hours.
Summary We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to lead developer-facing documentation for an on-device machine learning platform and its supporting frameworks. This role will focus on shaping content strategy, defining information architecture, and producing high-quality technical documentation that enables developers to effectively build, optimize, and deploy ML solutions.
Our Ideal Candidate
6+ years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on developer documentation for machine learning or AI platforms
Passion for machine learning and developer experience, with a strong foundation in translating complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content
Proficient in documentation tools and workflows, with strong skills in technical writing, content structuring, and API/SDK documentation
Familiar with ML frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, Core ML, ONNX, and Python-based ML workflows
Skilled in collaborating with engineering, product, and cross-functional technical teams
Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, timelines, and stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detail
Experience supporting developer conferences or launch-driven documentation cycles is a plus
Job Description In this role, you will lead the creation and execution of developer-facing documentation for an on-device ML platform.
You will partner with engineering teams to build deep technical understanding and translate complex machine learning and AI concepts into clear, accurate, and developer-friendly documentation. This includes platform overviews, getting started guides, workflow tutorials, API/SDK references, and troubleshooting resources.
You will also define and maintain information architecture, ensure consistency across documentation sets, align terminology, and support ongoing updates across APIs, optimization tooling, framework integrations, and developer tools—helping drive a cohesive and scalable documentation ecosystem.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Background in developer documentation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or software engineering
Experience with concepts such as model conversion and compression, quantization and optimization, and hardware-accelerated inference
Additional Requirements
This opportunity is remote and requires working PST hours
The pay for this W-2 position is $93.28 per hour
This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
