Associate Director of Strategic Sourcing – Customs Brokerage & Trade Compliance Services

This key leadership role is responsible for designing and executing global sourcing strategies that ensure excellence in brokerage services, international trade operations, and regulatory compliance. It will spearhead transformation initiatives across complex, multi‑dimensional supply networks while fostering strategic supplier relationships, mitigating trade risks, and enabling long‑term operational success. Location: Remote (US‑IL‑REMOTE).
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement mid‑to‑long‑term global sourcing strategies that address capacity constraints, optimize production location decisions, and support brokerage efficiency, including import and export related activities performed by providers in this space.
Lead continuous evaluation and improvement of purchasing activities to maximize value across brokerage and trade‑related spend.
Own category strategy development for global brokerage, customs clearance, and compliance services.
Supplier Management & Contracting
Direct supplier evaluation and selection based on multi‑factor criteria including service levels, reliability, compliance capabilities, and operational scale.
Lead complex negotiations and renegotiations of service contracts to optimize cost, performance, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Develop and enforce contractual frameworks aligned with risk mitigation and global trade requirements.
Create and maintain standard performance management processes across the customs brokerage space.
Responsible for tracking, maintaining, and addressing all contracts related to customs brokerage services globally.
Trade Compliance Leadership
In alignment with Global Trade and RTX Customs groups, provide strategic provider management on brokerage and import/export regulatory compliance across multiple regions.
Partner with internal stakeholders and legal teams to ensure alignment with trade laws, sanctions, duty mitigation strategies, and audit readiness.
Influence enterprise‑wide trade policies and leverage supplier capabilities to ensure seamless cross‑border operations.
Strategic Impact & Innovation
Establish functional strategies with 2–5 year horizons, driving transformation across operational processes, digital systems, and sourcing governance.
Lead cross‑functional collaboration with supply chain, legal, finance, global trade and business units to solve complex challenges.
Champion cutting‑edge sourcing and compliance solutions through internal and external expert engagement.
Executive Communication
Engage senior leaders through executive briefings on provider capability, performance, and innovation strategies.
Act as primary liaison with external partners including freight forwarders, brokers and global trade organizations.
Influence organizational adoption of sourcing and compliance practices through persuasive communication and strategic alignment.
Expected travel up to 20%.
Qualifications
U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, logistics, or customs brokerage.
Minimum 5 years deep understanding of brokerage operations, customs regulations, and global sourcing.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with experience briefing senior leadership.

Salary & Benefits Salary range: 157,200 USD – 298,800 USD.
