
MEP Superintendent

Job Description
DPR Construction is seeking an MEP Superintendent with 5 or more years of commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction experience. The individual will be responsible for day‑to‑day scheduling and field coordination of all aspects of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, low voltage systems, and fire sprinkler scopes of one or more projects. The MEP Superintendent will work as part of the field leadership team and will be responsible for planning and execution of system start‑up, test and balance, and commissioning. Together with the project team, executives, and regional leadership, the superintendent will coordinate trade partner proposals, schedules, logistics, and maintain relationships with neighboring occupants.
Responsibilities
Support both pre‑construction and project teams in reviewing trade partner proposals, schedules, and logistics.
Manage installation of electrical, HVAC, automation, plumbing, process piping, low voltage systems, fire/life safety, and fire protection systems (validated and non‑validated).
Participate in review of MEP‑related shop drawings and submittals.
Assist in developing full commissioning plans for all MEP systems, identifying all test requirements, inspections, factory start‑up of major equipment, factory acceptance tests, vendor documentation, and integrated test plans that demonstrate full system operations.
Provide onsite construction support for MEP systems and oversee start‑up, balancing, commissioning, and validation certification, including owner training and project close‑out.
Develop and oversee project‑specific MEP quality and safety programs and participate in safety cause mapping for post‑MEP safety events.
Create construction schedules, perform regular updates, monitor logic relationships, and insert new activities and impacts.
Coordinate job‑site logistics and maintain relationships with neighboring occupants.
Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction to achieve project occupancy milestones.
Lead DPR’s injury‑free environment safety program.
Coordinate subcontractor work scopes, scheduling, and resource loading in conjunction with DPR’s self‑perform work crews.
Foster the development of foremen to grow into future superintendents.
Represent DPR field operations as the primary interface with owner and design teams.
Qualifications
Strong grasp of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction concepts and applicable codes.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to identify and resolve complex issues related to MEP design and construction.
Ability to run complex meetings with multiple attendees, issue minutes promptly, and follow up with participants for deliverables.
Good understanding of fire/life safety and fire sprinkler systems and their integration with mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
Good understanding of the test and balance process and requirements.
Good understanding of building automation systems and sequences as they relate to MEP.
Good understanding of MEP‑related safety regulations.
Ability to contribute to a culture of safety in a construction environment.
Proficiency with current virtual design and construction software (preferred).
Experience with CPM scheduling and lean pull planning processes; knowledge of Primavera P6 preferred.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
Comfortable in an open and collaborative working environment.
Excellent listening, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
Ability to create and support a positive team environment.
Five or more years of experience as an MEP Superintendent, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred but not required.
A strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.
On‑Site Requirements Candidate can be based in any location where DPR Construction has an office. Weekly travel to the project location in
Monroe, LA.
