Tax Director
to support and lead complex tax engagements while playing a key role in managing client relationships and developing internal teams. This position sits just below the Partner level and offers a strong path to partnership for the right individual.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong tax professional with leadership experience, a client‑focused mindset, and the ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and review complex tax engagements for a diverse client base including closely held businesses, partnerships, and high‑net‑worth individuals
Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services across federal, state, and local tax matters
Manage client relationships and serve as a key point of contact for tax‑related matters
Supervise and mentor tax managers, seniors, and staff, ensuring quality and timely delivery of work
Review tax returns and deliverables for accuracy, compliance, and completeness
Assist with business development initiatives, including identifying opportunities within existing client relationships
Collaborate with Partners on engagement strategy, resource planning, and client growth
Stay current on tax law changes and contribute to firm‑wide technical knowledge
Qualifications
CPA required; MST or other advanced degree is a plus
8–12+ years of progressive tax experience within public accounting
Strong technical expertise in tax compliance and planning
Proven experience managing teams and leading engagements
Strong client service and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Experience
High‑net‑worth individuals and pass‑through entities
Multi‑state taxation and complex tax structures
Experience across industries such as real estate, private equity, manufacturing, or professional services
