A well-established public accounting firm is seeking a
Tax Director
to join its growing tax practice across the
New York Metro area . This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who brings a strong background in
high-net-worth individual taxation, closely held businesses, pass-through entities, and general tax advisory work .
This role offers the chance to step into a visible leadership position with direct client exposure, technical tax work, team mentorship responsibilities, and long-term partnership potential for the right individual.
What You’ll Be Doing
Manage and review a broad range of
tax engagements
including
HNW individuals, partnerships, S-corps, C-corps, trusts, and closely held businesses
Provide strategic
tax planning, consulting, and compliance oversight
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on tax matters, planning opportunities, and business-related tax issues
Review complex tax returns and ensure timely, accurate delivery
Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff and managers
Partner with firm leadership on client service, workflow management, and practice development
Assist in identifying opportunities to deepen client relationships and expand service offerings
What We’re Looking For
CPA required
8+ years
of public accounting tax experience
Strong background in
HNW and/or broad-based middle market tax
Experience reviewing complex returns across multiple entity types
Ability to manage client relationships and lead engagements independently
Prior experience mentoring or overseeing staff strongly preferred
Strong communication, technical, and organizational skills
A track record of progressive experience in public accounting environments is highly valued
Compensation & Highlights Target compensation generally ranges from $180,000 – $260,000+ , depending on experience, book, technical depth, and leadership scope
