Organizational Background
The Arizona Parks and Recreation Association was founded in 1950 as a member-based professional organization. The organization’s membership is comprised of diverse professionals who work for local municipalities, state and county parks, private recreation agencies, HOA's, golf courses and a variety of businesses who serve the industry. As a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, the mission of APRA is to connect, educate and inspire all who enhance the quality of life through the profession of parks, recreation, and the protection of natural resources.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the Annual Conference, managing APRA’s digital presence, newsletter and magazine, and leading the Marketing Committee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event management, marketing, and content curation, with excellent organizational and leadership skills.
APRA is made up of a small team supported by dedicated volunteers and industry partners. The ideal candidate will be a great team player with the ability to own projects and effectively work with external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Staff lead on our Annual Conference and Exhibit Hall
Execute unique marketing campaigns to educate and engage our members
Oversee and manage APRA’s website, mobile app, social media, and quarterly magazine
Lead the Marketing Committee by delegating the marketing needs of the association
Content curation and management of all marketing assets
Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure all sponsorship activation is completed
Primary staff responsible for delivering on all partner ROI’s
Act as the staff contact for all external events Phoenix Summit Challenge and National Trail Trek
Identify and build out new events both internal and with industry partners (Diamondbacks +, Platinum Partner Events)
Collaborate with APRA volunteers to deliver on Association goals and Strategic Plan
Other duties as assigned
The Marketing and Event Coordinator will act as the primary staff resource for the following APRA Committees
Marketing Committee
Conference Committee
Young Professional Committee
Professional Qualifications and Personal Attributes
Bachelor's degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, Marketing/Communications, or closely related field
3-5 years' experience in marketing or event management
Experience managing organization’s social media accounts
Familiarity with the MS Suite and Adobe Suite
Outstanding organizational skills
Ability to be self-motivated and complete tasks with minimal supervision
Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
Adaptable and open to learning
Ability to travel throughout the state 15% of the time
