Community Fundraising Events Manager

Position Summary The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Community Fundraising Events Manager position. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community Fundraising Events, this role supports participant stewardship and logistical components of a portfolio of in-person run, walk and cycling events across the United States and the Foundation’s virtual offerings. It works closely with internal and external stakeholders to plan elements of successful run, walk, or cycling events.

This is a hybrid-flex position that will require in-person attendance at the Foundation’s office in New York City.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the Community Fundraising Events (CFE) team to support a national portfolio of run, walk, and cycling events, contributing to all phases of event execution from campaign creation through post-event follow-up.

Provide personalized support and stewardship to CFE participants and their donors to strengthen engagement and enhance the overall fundraising experience.

Lead participant stewardship and multi‑channel communication strategy, including managing email campaigns through the fundraising platform, coordinating personalized outreach (e.g., handwritten notes, Gratavid, and other tools), and partnering with the social media team on Facebook groups and other community engagement features.

Support CFE program email inboxes and respond to inquiries from community members and participants, including monitoring and supporting the Unity Walk phone line.

Develop fundraising and event resources for CFE programs, including toolkits, trend reports, one‑pagers, and Bonfire t‑shirt fundraising sites.

Assist with the creation, launch, and ongoing management of event websites to support event promotion and participant engagement.

Support the fundraising incentive program and contribute ideas and strategies to enhance the overall participant experience.

Support on‑site event execution, assisting with day‑of logistics and troubleshooting operational challenges as they arise.

Manage the ordering, shipping, and tracking of event materials in partnership with the CFE Coordinator to ensure timely delivery to event weekends.

Provide general project and administrative support to the Community Fundraising Events team on additional initiatives and projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of project management, event planning, peer‑to‑peer fundraising, and/or community engagement.

Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent decision‑making, problem‑solving, and judgment skills; creative, outside‑the‑box thinking.

Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to make informed decisions based on data and experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage participants, donors, and team members across multiple channels.

Proactive, action‑oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively while managing time efficiently.

Experience with our peer‑to‑peer fundraising platform Classy, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and project management tools such as Salesforce or Asana preferred.

Experience with event execution, on‑site logistics, and coordination of materials.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Ability and willingness to travel and work weekend events, as well as events outside of traditional working hours.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Ability to lift and move event materials up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits Individual compensation for this role is dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, skillsets, and applicable laws. In addition to salary, the Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 USD
