Job Summary The Director of Podcast Production leads the podcast department and provides strategic, editorial, and operational oversight across all podcast initiatives. This role is responsible for the overall direction, quality, and accuracy of podcast content, ensuring projects are clearly scoped, aligned with organizational priorities, and executed at a high editorial standard.

Serving as the direct supervisor of Senior Producers, the Director oversees team management, workload delegation, and performance accountability. They work closely with Senior Producers and the Operations Team to assess project viability, align on scope, and determine production feasibility based on team capacity and resources.

At the show level, the Director partners with the Executive Producer and Senior Producers to define and articulate creative vision and direction. On scripted projects, they provide editorial review to ensure narrative clarity, alignment with the agreed upon vision, and consistency with the broader TransLash voice prior to Executive Producer review.

The Director also collaborates cross-functionally with leadership across other TransLash verticals to support integrated storytelling initiatives and coordinated content strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead and manage the podcast department, directly supervising Senior Producers and ensuring effective oversight of all active podcast projects

Oversee project intake, assessing feasibility, scope, and alignment with organizational priorities

Formalize and refine scalable systems that support structured intake, workflow clarity, and production efficiency

Partner with executive leadership to align podcast strategy with broader organizational goals

Review scripts and key editorial materials to ensure factual accuracy, alignment with organizational voice, and adherence to editorial standards prior to executive review

Ensure all projects are delivered on time and in alignment with approved scope

Guide scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting in partnership with Operations and Senior Producers

Continually refine workflows across development, production, editorial review, & delivery

Delegate responsibilities appropriately and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluation for Senior Producers

Manage relationships with external partners, platforms, and collaborators

Collaborate with internal departments to ensure effective cross-functional coordination.

Location This is a fully remote position. The Director of Podcast Production may be based anywhere within the United States.

Salary $135,000 annually plus benefits.

Requirements Qualifications

7–10+ years of experience in podcasting, audio production, or related media, including at least 3 years of direct team leadership experience managing experienced producers or cross-functional creative teams, is required

Demonstrated strong editorial judgment, including substantial experience reviewing scripts and content for factual accuracy, narrative clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational voice

Proven ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to high editorial and production standards

Experience managing budgets, workflows, and departmental resources while fostering cross-functional collaboration

Strategic thinker with the ability to align departmental objectives with broader organizational goals and build internal and external partnerships

Experience working directly with high-profile executives and senior leadership in a collaborative yet accountable structure

Demonstrated ability to create and oversee culturally competent coverage, ensuring editorial sensitivity and alignment with trans and LGBTQ+ communities

Willingness and availability to travel occasionally for leadership alignment and team-building initiatives.
