JOB SUMMARY The PR & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for building Fig Work's public presence, securing media coverage, and managing external communications that elevate the brand. The PR & Marketing Coordinator is an excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills and a passion for storytelling that connects with both B2B professional audiences and B2C youth audiences.

Public Relations
Develop and execute PR strategies to increase brand awareness and media visibility
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, podcasters, and industry influencers
Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and pitch materials
Secure media placements in relevant publications, podcasts, and broadcast outlets
Coordinate interviews and media opportunities for executive leadership
Monitor media coverage and track PR metrics
Respond to media inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Manage crisis communications as needed
Marketing & Communications
Develop compelling storytelling that highlights Fig Work's impact on students and business partners
Create content for external communications including blog posts, newsletters, and case studies
Craft messaging frameworks that resonate with both B2B and B2C audiences
Collaborate with marketing team to align PR efforts with overall marketing strategy
Support social media strategy with shareable content and engagement opportunities
Identify speaking opportunities and industry events for brand visibility
Brand Building
Position Fig Work as a thought leader in workforce development and education technology
Develop partnerships with industry organizations, associations, and advocacy groups
Coordinate award submissions and recognition opportunities
Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to inform positioning strategy
Maintain brand voice and messaging consistency across all external communications
Additional Responsibilities
Track and report on PR and marketing metrics including media impressions, share of voice, and sentiment
Maintain media contact database and PR asset library
Assist with special projects and events as requestedEnsure work duties are performed in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
Represent Fig Work's values on a daily basis
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Public Relations- Strong understanding of PR strategies, media relations, and publicity best practices
Writing & Storytelling- Exceptional written communication skills with ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences
Relationship Building- Ability to build and maintain relationships with media contacts, influencers, and industry partners
Communication- Must be able to communicate effectively with media, leadership, and cross-functional teams
Strategic Thinking- Ability to develop PR strategies that align with organizational goals
Media Savvy- Understanding of media landscape, newsworthiness, and what drives coverage
Audience Adaptability- Ability to tailor messaging for B2B professional audiences and B2C youth audiences
Time Management- Manage multiple campaigns and deadlines; ability to respond quickly to time-sensitive opportunities
Attention to Detail- Must be detail-oriented in writing, editing, and fact‑checking all external communications
Problem Solving- Ability to navigate challenges and handle sensitive communications with professionalism
Creativity- Ability to develop innovative angles and pitches that capture media attention
Analytical Thinking- Ability to track metrics and adjust strategy based on performance data
Adaptability- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
3-5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or marketing
Proven track record securing media placements and building media relationships
Portfolio of published work or media coverage examples
Must be authorized to work in the US
