About the Role
As a CBRE Union Lead HVAC Mechanic in Youngstown, Ohio, you will be responsible for maintaining complex mechanical and electrical equipment for commercial HVAC systems.
This role is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function, providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
What You’ll Do
Install, repair, adjust, service, and maintain complex electric or pneumatic control systems used for building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and control components.
Oversee ongoing maintenance of building HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation.
Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety.
Troubleshoot difficult equipment failures and identify the best course of action for equipment modifications.
Apply general knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish assigned tasks and solve routine problems.
Have a broad knowledge of own job discipline and some knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values. May convince to reach an agreement.
Impact the quality of own work and the work of others on the team.
Work primarily within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Explain complex information to others in straightforward situations.
What You’ll Need
License: Journeyman HVACR or Pipefitter required, or other experience deemed equivalent by the Company, with focus on Building Automation. Must maintain all state‑mandated continuing education requirements.
Experience: Minimum of 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in commercial HVACR, with a proven track record of handling high‑complexity system failures.
Certifications: EPA Universal Certification required. NATE or similar advanced certifications highly preferred.
Advanced Diagnostics: Mastery of reading complex schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot proprietary control boards and integrated systems.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior technicians, providing technical guidance and quality control on job sites.
Specialized Knowledge: Expert‑level understanding of pneumatic controls, refrigeration cycles, steam systems, direct digital controls, and air balancing.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency in using diagnostic software/tablets and fleet management tools to document work and manage inventory.
Physical Capability: Ability to perform heavy lifting (50+ lbs), navigate crawl spaces, and work at heights or on rooftops in varying weather conditions.
Benefits Pay: $35.00 per hour, subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Benefits include 401(K), dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance, and vision insurance.
